Entschuldigung

As I mentioned in a previous post our honeymoon started out at the Hilton - North Raleigh and continued on to Munich, Germany the next day.  To the left is a picture of us in our hotel room ready to head to the airport.  The hotel was wonderful and we even got room service breakfast in the morning. This was a wonderful treat considering up to about 2 weeks before the wedding we were not sure where we were going to stay or how we were going to get to the airport and then I found out that we got a room on the house on the night after the wedding!

We left for Germany  in the afternoon on Sunday and arrived there early Monday Morning (with the time difference).  Once we got through customs and found our luggage we headed to the hotel.  This of course involved our first experience with Munich's S-bahn.  How wonderful public transportation was in Munich.  We didn't once have to get a cab or wonder how we were going to get somewhere, the S-bahn took us within walking distance of anywhere we wanted to go.  So we managed to get on the S-bahn (including figuring out how to get a ticket) and get off on our correct stop.  What we didn't realize until later was that our hotel was connected to the subway through an underground mall.  So we lugged out luggage up the stairs and walked down the street (which was cobblestone) with all our bags
looking for the hotel.  When we finally found it and got checked in I was so happy to be rid of the luggage.  Now its time to EXPLORE!

The first thing that we were forced to find was the most famous beer hall (Hofbrauhaus) in the world and try out Germany's world famous beer. I must say that the beer was pretty good considering I'm not really a huge fan of beer to begin with.  I was also pleasantly surprised with how much I liked their food.  German food here tastes nothing like it does in Germany, soo much better there!  The Hofbrauhaus was by far our favorite place to eat, I think we ate there 3 times while we were in Munich.  It was so fun because they have a live polka band and everyone was in such good spirits.  What was most amazing to us was how everyone just crammed into one table together, it didn't matter if you knew these people or not they would sit down with you, that would NEVER happen here.  I liked that aspect, it forces you to meet new people.  One night a couple and their children from Italy ate with us which was fun.

It snowed almost every day we were there but never enough to stick on the ground there was just snow always falling.  It gave us a nice taste of winter without having to deal with the hassle of snow.  Living in NC we rarely see snow so we got our quota for the year and we were happy to see it.  It was fun to bundle up and run around the city together.  It also went well with the Christmas theme that was all over the city.  Not only in Munich known for Oktoberfest but they are also know for their Christmas Markets which are out on the street all through the month of December.

Our travels in Germany require more than one post so stay tuned in order to read more about our Honeymoon in Germany...
