Several weeks ago I participated in the 2010 K9 3K and for any animal lover what a worthy cause! I don't have a dog but my brother, Chris, graciously offered to let me "borrow" his dog for the day (lets face it, I was doing everyone a favor, he needs to run off some energy). Scooby was a perfect gentle man. Although he got excited and pulled at the leash often he always listens so well that if you tell him to stop he does. When I got to my parents house to get Scooby mom had decided that she wanted to go as well and take Christy. For those of you who don't know Christy is our 17 year old Maltese. Needless to say she can't do a 3K, 1K or .5K so mom put her in the stroller. Christy had a wonderful time as well. By the time we were ready to leave she was so hyped up that she was barking at the music the band was playing and was alert the whole way home.
Scooby and I pre-walk. As you can tell First Citizens was an event sponsor and therefore I have on a First Citizens shirt.
Mom and Christy on the walk.
Water break! Obviously some dogs needed more than just water, they wanted to take a swim.
This minature pony did the walk as well (at least I think he did the whole walk). He got to meet Christy, who of course had no interest in the pony.
It was a blast and I'm looking forward to next year. To view more pictures of the event follow the link (http://nthomas.photobiz.com/cart/event_login.cfm?eventID=391386) there are even more of Christy in there!
